Welcome to Cheesy-Movies.Com - The Last Resting Place Of Dio Bach's Old Analogue Media

VHS TapeI have a serious addiction. Since a child I have craved, sought and watched some of the cheesiest films ever made. Inept horror, zero-budget Sci-Fi, re-dubbed foreign fantasies - I have sat through and collected many hours of some of the worst (and best) of movies on VHS. This site is dedicated to those lost and forgotten films - yet to get a DVD release.

I spent many hours of my youth searching the small video shops for the chance of an unseen treat or a slipped-through-net nasty to add to my collection. I bought up quite a few over the years, and still indulge myself with the odd purchase when I see something I've missed or fancied.

Big arsed top loading VCRBut in this digital age, VHS is all but dead and rightly so - as a film viewing medium it stinks. The age of flawless, letterboxed - uncut DVD is upon us (praise be) and many old classics are getting a fresh lease of life and a new audience. This is great, but unfortunately, there are a lot of old films that are not getting treated to such as rebirth.

Hundreds of old time favourites are yet to surface on DVD, whether through lack of commercial worth or simply as they are forgotten. Recently I started replacing a lot of my old VHS with nice new DVDs. But as I continued, I found lots of them not available.

Video noise, deteriorationThere's one big problem with hanging onto VHS - the medium has a maximum life off 30 years at the outside. Not only that, but it deteriorates with every playback. A noticeable quality drop is evident in a short time, especially with the more popular ones.

I decided I wanted to make-sure my tapes were safe before they finally bit the dust. I invested in some capture equipment and begun the labourious plan of making digital back-ups of them. As well as giving me the opportunity to save and archive them, its given me the opportunity to go back to films I've not seen for a long time (in some cases decades.)

This site catalogues and reviews those films, and gives you the opportunity to remind yourself of some ignored films that you may have forgotten, not ever cared about or totaly avoided. I have an unrational love them, if you've wound up here then the chances are you do also.
